A young boy named Mukunda was deeply impacted by his mother's death. He longed to travel to the Himalayas but his father only permitted a trip to Benares. There, Mukunda met a saint named Pranabananda who had the extraordinary ability to materialize an extra body and work through it. Pranabananda told Mukunda that his life was destined for the path of yoga and renunciation. Though amazed by the saint's powers, Mukunda felt drawn to find his own guru one day. After returning home, Mukunda learned that before her death, his mother had received a prophecy that Mukunda would become a yogi. She was also given a sacred amulet for him that would one day disappear after serving its purpose. Though Mukunda tried to reach the Himalayas as a boy, he was unable to.
