The surge of migration to Europe from countries where Islam is the majority religion has posed a significant challenge to the rights of women. In recent times, there's been a notable increase in reported cases of sexual assault and harassment of women in Western European nations that have welcomed large numbers of migrants. A significant number of these offenses are committed by young immigrant men originating from societies that are heavily male-dominated, where women are not treated as equals.

Consequently, women are beginning to withdraw from public spaces in certain neighborhoods heavily populated by immigrants. Harassment on the streets and escalating instances of assault are driving this retreat. Women, who have lived their lives enjoying their freedoms without fear, are now questioning their safety. Streets that were once safe for women to walk freely have now become areas to avoid.

This gradual decline in women's rights has coincided with a substantial increase in immigration to Europe. This was particularly evident in 2015-2016, when nearly 2 million people, predominantly young men from the Muslim world, migrated to Europe. These men hail from cultures that do not grant women equal rights or the freedom to pursue their dreams.

However, the goal here isn't to vilify immigrants, but to comprehend the potential threat to the hard-earned rights of women in Europe. Ignoring criminal activities and suppressing open dialogue has only served to fuel right-wing populism. The focus should be on integrating immigrants into societies where women are respected and treated as equals. If the current trends persist, not only will women be at a disadvantage, but the very essence of liberal democracy could be at stake.
