For instance, consider the law "Never Outshine the Master". This law is based on the idea that displaying superior abilities or outperforming those above you in status can lead to resentment and potential backlash. This law is illustrated by the story of King Louis the fourteenth and his finance minister, Nicolas Fouquet. Fouquet, in an attempt to impress the king, threw a lavish party at his estate. However, this display of wealth and power only served to make King Louis the fourteenth suspicious and threatened, leading to Fouquet's downfall.

Another law, "Conceal Your Intentions", is demonstrated by the story of the Trojan Horse. The Greeks, unable to penetrate the city of Troy, built a giant wooden horse and left it outside the city gates as a supposed peace offering. The Trojans, unaware of the Greek soldiers hidden inside, brought the horse into the city, leading to their defeat.
